With honor, with valor, fidelity
We stand to keep our nation free,

As we march with the men of the Fighting Third,
We're proud Marines of the Fighting Third.
Brave men before us made history
They died and they bled for victory,
Island to jungle they passed the word
That the battle was won by the Fighting Third,

The music was prepared by Sara Fopiano, wife of Buddy Fopiano, a great Marine who served in WW II.
Col Danowitz wrote the lyrics to the music to represent the past, present, and future of our Division.
This song was first played by the III MEF band for MajGen Gordon C. Nash in Okinawa, but later given by him to the Marine Band at Marine Barracks Washington, DC (8th and I) who did a slight rearrangement and recorded it.
