Memorial Scholarship Fund (MSF) Students send their thanks to the Association.

James P. Kane, Ed.D. MSF trustee

A MSF Board of eight elected Trustees headed by Chairman Steve Johnson administers the Scholarship program.  The MSF secretary has shared with us a collection of very moving letters sent to him from our student honorees below.  Each is a delight to read; each reflects the goals of our program.

Amy S, who was honored with an Association scholarship grant twenty years ago and today serves with distinction as a middle school librarian, writes:  Hello. I am writing to thank you for the scholarship that I received from you when I was in college twenty years ago.  I often pause to consider where I would be today without the support of generous contributors like the MSF Trustees.  My dad is a Marine and raised his three children as a single parent.  We struggled financially growing up, but he instilled in all of us the value of hard work and perseverance.  I am now married with two daughters.  I completed my bachelor's degree and added a Master's degree and two endorsements to it.  I work as a middle school librarian and love helping students chase their dreams.  I enjoy the work that I do, and I think it is due in large part to the financial support I received in college.  I honestly don't know where I would be today without the help of generous contributors like the MSF Trustees.  Thank you for allowing me to pursue my education despite my lack of financial means to fund it myself.  Please know that you have made a huge difference in my life as well as in the lives of countless others.  Semper Fi. Amy
Anna K writes: Hello MSF Trustees.  This is Anna and I just wanted to say thank you so much for awarding me the MSF scholarship.  I really appreciate the support and it truly means a lot to me that there are so many good programs such as this one that helps people further their educational goals.  Thanks again, and hope you have a great rest of your summer.  Anna
On behalf of my entire family I want to thank the Assn MSF for its belief in the importance of a college education and their financial support of students pursuing their dreams.  My father's death affected our family on many levels and affording two college educations has been a real challenge for our single parent family.  Alissa P.
Thank you, MSF, for your generous scholarship.  It is greatly appreciated and will help me in my goal to graduate debt free!  Julia S.
To the family of the LtCol Richard E. Jones Memorial Scholarship.  I elected to wait to write to you until I could report on my first semester.  I received 5 A's and made the Dean's list in pursuing a degree in Computer Science to focus on Cyber security.  My dad served in with 1/9 as a Doc (US Navy), was awarded a Purple Heart and is VA rated 100% disabled.  We both thank you for the kind support.  Jamie O.
Jonathan K writes:  Thank you so much for the scholarship!  I am very grateful for the funds and I will make sure to give my grandfather a call and thank him for sponsoring me.  Thanks again,  Jonathan
From the parents of two awardees.  We spoke to Raymond and Timothy and have decided that we would like to make a donation to the Memorial Scholarship fund as a family.  We are sending a check today for $400.  Thank you for all your hard work on the scholarship committee.
Karina G writes:  This is absolutely amazing!  Thank you so much MSF Trustees.  My brother (a past MSF awardee) and I are both truly grateful for this.  I can't wait to hear from you again.  Sincerely, Karina
Thank you for the scholarship.  My father and brother are both active duty USMC officers.  This scholarship helps us tremendously.  God Bless and Semper Fi.  William C.
This happy note from Collin C.  Wow! This will help me a lot for paying for school and thank you for awarding me this scholarship!  I hope you have a great day and thank you again.  Collin
From Alyssa M:  This is such good news.  Thank you so much for the scholarship and for letting me know!  It's much, much appreciated.  Alyssa

What splendid young people.  Remember Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher from twenty-five hundred years ago?  He was the first to write, "Character is destiny ".  And our scholarship honorees certainly reflect that character.  The Memorial Scholarship Fund Trustees, on behalf of the Third Marine Division Association, wish each well.
